This week it’s all about the culinary journey of Jensen’s Restaurant…
From a young age, Carl Jensen knew what he wanted to be when he grew up, and sure enough, by the time he was in his mid to late twenties (don’t want to give up his age to easily) his dream came true when he opened Jensen’s Restaurant in Sylvania. Known for his quirky techniques unique to that era of cooking and his show-stopping desserts, he gained a loyal following of restaurant goers from the Shire and beyond.
After the success of Jensen’s, Carl decided to branch out and explore and opened three Cronulla restaurants. Bella Costa and The Naked Grape came first, before being followed by his dream restaurant, Summer Salt. Found in the Elouera Surf Club, with beautiful views of Cronulla’s sandy white beaches, Summer Salt was and is the Ultimate Beachside Restaurant, and continues to receive rave reviews to this day.
Today, Carl still uses the freshest local produce, and his passion for delivering excellence on a plate has never been stronger. He has most recently taken his passion back to its home style roots with the relaunching of his inaugural venture Jensen’s Restaurant in the homely and picturesque suburb of Kareela. Always letting his creative juices flow, Carl is constantly trying new things and developing new ways to give his loyal customers and new diners the comfort of home wrapped in luxury, delivering the highest quality service and produce. The menu is constantly changing and evolving, always reflecting his experience as a chef and restaurateur by incorporating elements from all of his other restaurants, mixing nostalgic retro classics with modern techniques.
Whilst we are focusing on Carl, we cannot leave out his fabulous team behind him including the legendary Tim Hemmings, the connoisseur of all things cocktail Joshua Metcalf, and let’s not forget the brains and talent – behind every great man out there is an even greater woman – the wonder woman that is Brooke Jensen. Every hanging plant, besser block, item of furniture just oozes her talented creative flare that just invites you in and makes your dining experience just that extra special!
